Where to buy real estate in Costa Rica may be a difficult question for many to answer. This country has some amazing places for investors to buy property. Since Costa Rica is situated in the tropical region, it has a wonderful climate throughout the year. There are 3 mountain ranges that divide this small country and hence create multiple habitats and micro climates.

There are two specific climates. Verano meaning summer in English lasts between November and May and Invierno meaning winter in English lasts between May and November. The amount of rainfall increases in winter, though, the temperate is more-or-less moderate throughout the year. In this article, we list out the top 6 spots and understand why they are famous.

Pick 1- Santa Teresa: This place is an offbeat beach side village which is famous for its laid back attitude. A lot of people who have made Santa Teresa their home are among the rich in society. This place is famous for surfing. Most of the beach front property in Santa Teresa is owned by foreigners which makes this place diverse in nature.

Pick 2 – Malpais: This is a small beach side village close to Santa Teresa which is a surfers paradise since the waves here are huge and strong. Some outlandish volcanic formations create a picturesque landscape. Another reason people prefer investing in property here is the fact that this place has a calm and peaceful atmosphere with abundant greenery all around.

Option 3: Playa Hermosa is a small village north of Santa Teresa. This place is also surfers haven. The beaches of Playa Hermosa are broad and more-or-less deserted. The few beach front homes in this area are owned by gringos (foreigners) who dont intend on selling it. This is considered a great area for families and the prices of properties in Playa Hermosa and lesser than prices in Santa Teresa.

Pick 4 ” Montezuma: This place is a favorite spot for people to invest their hard-earned money in real estate because this place is a small fishing village with a laidback lifestyle. The beaches of Montezuma are filled with white sand and considered among the safest beaches of the world. The climate in Montezuma is pleasant and the temperature is also moderate throughout the year.

Option 5: Tambor is a laidback town located in the Nicoya peninsula. It is also called the Whale Bay because a large number of whales migrate to this place to mate and give birth. It has beaches which are lovely and long and filled with white sand. These are ideal for diving, swimming and snorkeling since they are well protected from ocean swells. This place is becoming increasingly popular among the ticos (localites) and gringos (foreigners).

Spot 6: The sixth spot on the investors list goes to a town close to Montezuma, called Cabuya. The beaches of this town are also famous for surfing. In addition to the magnificent white beaches, this town has picturesque landscape which garners it the sixth spot. This town which is being occupied mostly by ticos is gradually getting populated with the gringos too.
